INTRODUCING Pete Vance

Singer Songwriter Performing Artist

Pete Vance’s life-long passion is singing and performing! Among early highlights were playing alongside the ‘Royal Australian Navy Band’ at PNG’s (1975); performing at the Olympic and Paralympic Torch Relay Celebrations and on ABC TV’s Stateline (Brisbane 2000) and at World Expo, Aichi, Japan (2005).

Peter wrote his first song ‘Welcome to My Day’ with other Access Arts members then performed it at the Asia-Pacific Wataboshi Music Festival in Nara, Japan (1999). The audience applauded loudly… he found out later they just thought he was ‘Kenny Rogers!’

More recently Peter has written and performed theme songs for the three festivals in his home village of Sandgate: Einbunpin (July 2018-24); ‘Jingle All The Bay’ (December 2018-24) and ‘Bluewater’ for the start of the Brisbane to Gladstone Yacht race, (2019 & 2022-2025).

In 2007 Peter became Brisbane‘s Senior Superstar singing ‘Wind Beneath My Wings’ in front of a capacity crowd at Brisbane City Hall and in 2021 closed the Lord Mayor’s Seniors Gala Concert with crowd favourites ‘Love is a Many Splendored Thing’ and ‘FAME’ with stage and TV star Karen Knowles.

A life member of the Brisbane Jazz Club (BJC) Peter performs there regularly with Brass Roots Live BIGBAND, the Mark Pradella Band, Men the About Town trio and at the monthly Jazz Singers Jam Night hosted by Ingrid James.

Peter also enjoys performing at community and corporate events with Brass Roots Live and the Mark Pradella Band and sometimes solo.

His latest album ‘Off the Rack - LIVE!’ was launched in November 2022 at the BJC where it was recorded in 2021 with the Mark Pradella Band. “Mark and the band bring a freshness to the time-honoured standards as Peter weaves his magic into each story with his compelling rich, textured, full, lush tones and delicately nuanced stylings” (John Morrison & Jackie Cooper and Ingrid James).

Pete Vance is sure to engage and entertain you with a great mix of popular songs, ballads and jazz standards.

ALBUM REVIEWS

"This quality can’t be “rehearsed”. It is the sound of years and years of experience on the bandstand. Raw and honest like all jazz should be."

“Off the Rack gives the listener a sense that they've been privileged to share in a night full of rousing tempos and feels, led by Peter’s compelling rich, textured, full, lush tones and delicately nuanced stylings..."

Ingrid James

"The selection of music covers a broad spectrum of R&B tunes, Jazz standards and cool ballads, some of which are Pete's originals. Pete's deep lyrical  interpretations shows a wide expression of lived experiences,  wonderfully supported by an incredibly tight band of Brisbane Jazz Musicians."

"A perfect blend of the Great American Songbook, reworked and overhauled Pop classics plus a couple of brand new writings. Nice."
